Heartland of America Park

This 31-acre / 12-hectare park is located in downtown Omaha and allows visitors to take a relaxing break and experience the natural beauty of a lake and two fountains. Shooting water more than 300 feet / 91 meters into the air, the manmade fountain displays a multicolored light show at night. The General Marion boat tour is a notable attraction here, a fun boat ride costing only a quarter a person. In June, July and August, attractions include live concerts, which add to the relaxed atmosphere at Omaha's Heartland of America Park.

Strategic Air and Space Museum

A 300,000-square foot facility on the outskirts of Omaha, the Strategic Air and Space Museum holds more than 30 aircraft, including the B-36 Peacemaker and the SR-71 Blackbird. Celebrating aviation and the individuals who worked at Nebraska's Strategic Air Command, the museum offers many attractions, such as tours, films, audio and visual shows, exhibits, flight simulators, a snack bar, souvenir shop and a gallery displaying the steps of aircraft restoration. Located midway between Omaha and Lincoln, the museum often hosts special events and traveling exhibits.

Orpheum Theater

An exquisite performance venue, Orpheum Theater has hosted people such as W.C. Fields, Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. In the 1970s, the theater received a complete renovation and since then it has staged performances by the Omaha Symphony and several Broadway touring productions and musicals. The Phantom of the Opera, Annie, Jerry Seinfeld and James Taylor are just a few of the performances that have graced the Orpheum Theater's stage. Tours are free of charge, but by appointment only.

Mormon Pioneer Cemetery

Paying homage to the early Mormons who traveled cross-country and set up camp at this precise location, the Mormon Pioneer Cemetery in Omaha is filled with landmarks and monuments. Marking the 1846 winter stop of the pioneers, a journey which ended in a death toll of more than 600 Mormons due to harsh weather conditions, it is now a popular attraction among Omaha's visitors and locals.
